Screenprint, Foil Print, Digital Print, and Whatever Other Print There Is...
On my journey to building and starting a brand, one major component that I had to figure out was what print screen company to work with. If your starting a brand...a tee shirt brand in particular, your shirt designs have to hold a standard of quality...because those designs and shirts represent your brand and what people see.
I went through 4 different print screen companies before I found the one that actually worked best for me. Two major things for me, were the print quality and if the company could supply me with the specific shirts I wanted. Something I've learned is that you should always order a sample before the massive printing starts to happen...ALWAYS. When it comes to your shirts you want everything perfect or perfect in your eyes. For me its the design placement, size of design, and the colors accuracy in contrast to the design I've given them. Another good thing to do is to test the sample shirt before you give the thumbs up to mass produce things. And when I say test it...I mean TEST it. I wore the sample, sweated in the sample, washed the sample...shit, I washed the sample like 10 times. Just to see how the print would hold up and how much shrinkage would happen. It's a rigorous process but you don't want to be known as the brand with shitty quality designs and shitty quality shirts. Word to the wise is to ask about minimums. There's no reason for you to have a crazy amount of inventory when you're just starting off. My rule is to get a total of 40 shirts...5 small, 15 medium, 15 large, 3 x-large, and 2 xx-large. Mediums and Larges are your most common sizes that people wear, so you want to have more of those than any other size
There's other things to consider when choosing a print screen company, like additional color prices, t shirt prices, setup fees, and shipping cost. It's always good to find something local so that you can be a part of the process and you can pick your stuff up rather than having it shipped.
There's plenty more you have to consider when choosing a print screen company but I'll let you figure the rest out on your own. There's no better teacher than trial and error...plus, I feel like I've already written too much for this blog and most people just want to see the random picture for this blog because every blog should have a picture...
